Research Group Tiso
Research group Tiso, as part of the Blank lab, exploits the natural metabolic variability of microorganisms for the synthesis of promising chemicals. The design of microbial cell factories is based on systems analysis of the underlying metabolic pathways. Using tools of modern synthetic biology metabolic engineering of microorganisms such as Pseudomonas putida is carried out. Our strain engineering targets focus on the introduction of pathways for the production of heterologous products as well as for the metabolization of alternative carbon sources. A further focus is lab scale process engineering. Different unit operations are integrated with the fermentation, to achieve an overall efficient bioprocess.
