Linda Stewart interviewed Prof. Lars M. Blank on the use of microbes to produce polyphosphate and how microorganisms can help reduce the EU's dependence on phosphate rock imports in the future.

Professor Lars M. Blank said the EU currently buys phosphate rock from Morocco to produce fertilizers and polyphosphates - additives used to aid processing or improve the eating quality of many foods, especially meat and fish products.
